Phil Woods in a very unusual setting. This is a sort of a cult LP lovingly transferred to digital with top notch equipment.

    Thank you! My friend Souren Baronian recorded a clarinet feature during this session, but it's still lying in the vault unreleased. Impulse really should reissue this one!

    Great fun to hear this. When I was a kid bassist Chet Amsterdam lived down the block in Queens and I was friends with his daughter. They were famous in the neighborhood for their car, a tiny German Goggomobil, which was a weird choice for a bassist. They used to find the car moved onto the sidewalk pretty regularly.

    Bassist Chet Amsterdam lived down the street from me in Fresh Meadows in the 60s. I used to see him trundling his bass over the Long Island Expressway overpass to get the Q17A bus to the subway for a gig.
