Hampton Hawes / Charlie Haden - As Long As There's Music (1976)

This blog celebrates Barack Obama's victory, reminding everyone that the Afro-American community in the US has contributed more than any other community towards what we call culture and for a nation to achieve culture is to enter a state of grace. In my mind, no greater ambassadors of that achievement than these mythical jazz figures we try to present here ever existed.

One of the best albums ever. Been spinning the vinyl on regular basis for years. Many thanks for the digital version!

YES!!!! Found it at last! Thanks :) Without doubt one of the greatest duet albums of all time; Haden is on top form here and it's certainly the best thing Hampton Hawes ever recorded (IMO). I have been trying to find this rare bird for many years. An old friend that I shared a house with back in the 1980s had the LP and I fell in love with it then. It's part of the soundtrack to that very happy period of my life, so it's wonderful to be able to hear it again. Muchas gracias!
